Delong for Nevada NEWSLETTER June 2024!

Welcome to the beginning of Summer!

We made through the state primary! The candidates for the November general election are

now set. In the Assembly, which has 42 members, there are five republicans and five democrats that are unopposed by a respective democrat or republican. Some races do have a third-party candidate running. Therefore, 32 of the Assembly seats have a republican and a democrat running against each other. Of the current republican seats, it appears that 12 are solid republican wins in November. Of the current democrat seats, it appears that 22 are solid democrat wins in November.

That leaves eight seats that appear to be up for contention; two of which are currently republican and six are currently democrat. These numbers are all subject to change over the next five months depending how each Assembly race goes. In addition, the national and state-wide race can affect with down-ballot voting. As republican, I am and will continue to help win as many republican seats in the Assembly this November. I have a democrat opponent in the November general election. I will continue to stay in touch constituents and voters in District 26 and hope to have your vote in November. For those of you that are interested in a sign for your yard, please email me or send a note through the website.

If you are not home when I come by, I will leave the sign by your front door. Thank you for putting a sign out!

I want to give everyone an update on the homeowner’s insurance issues that are affecting

those of us that live in or near the Carson Range (Washoe, Carson, and Douglas counties), as

well as for those that live in other parts of the State.  The Nevada Division of Insurance has

scheduled a Town Hall meeting in Incline Village, Nevada to discuss the impacts of wildfires in the Western United States on homeowners and condominium insurance. The Town Hall

meeting will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 28 at the Donald W. Reynolds Community

Center located at 948 Incline Way in Incline Village. I will be at the Town Hall meeting. In their meeting announcement the Division of Insurance stated that “(w)ildfire activity across the West over the past decade has led to higher homeowner insurance rates and challenges to insurance companies when issuing insurance policies in certain areas including the Tahoe Basin. The threat of wildfires in Nevada and the West are creating challenges to consumers and communities. The Division of Insurance is hearing from those impacted and (the Division) feels that it is important that consumers have an opportunity to share the impact directly with the agency. Our goal is to not only hear from community members but also to share what the Division is working on and what can be done.”

My next coffee will be June 29 the at 9:00am at the Tahoe Natural Café, which is at the corner of Steamboat Parkway and Veterans Parkway. I look forward to meeting you there and discussing topics that are important to you and our district especially as we move into the 2024 campaign season.

I am looking for individuals to help yard sign out to your neighborhoods. If you can help please let me know through the contact page on my website (DeLongForNevada.com). If you can donate to the campaign, please click the donate button on my website. I will continue to try and make a difference in the Nevada Legislature.
